Dog Training
Dog training begins with listening, understanding and building trust.
Dog Training
Great dog training is about much more than teaching commands or creating obedience. At its heart, it is a conversation between you and your dog.
Every behaviour is a form of communication. Pulling on the lead, barking, struggling to settle, becoming anxious or ignoring instructions can all be your dog’s way of expressing what they need.
Our approach focuses on helping you understand what your dog is communicating while teaching you how to respond with patience, consistency and clear guidance. Rather than controlling behaviour through fear or force, training becomes an opportunity to build a calm, trusting relationship.
The goal is not simply to have a well-behaved do, it is to create a dog who understands you, feels understood by you and knows that they are safe.
How it works:
Dog training begins with listening. Every behaviour is a form of communication, so we first look at what your dog may be trying to express.
During training:
-
Your dog’s behaviour, personality and needs are observed
-
We explore the reasons behind behaviours such as pulling, barking, anxiety or difficulty settling
-
Clear, patient and consistent guidance is introduced
-
You learn how to communicate with your dog more effectively
-
Training is adapted to your dog rather than following a rigid checklist
-
Trust and understanding are built through positive interaction
-
Practical skills are developed for use in everyday life
Training becomes less about controlling behaviour and more about creating a relationship in which both you and your dog feel understood.
Potential Benefits:
A patient, communication-led approach to training may support:
-
Clearer communication between you and your dog
-
A stronger bond built on trust
-
Improved confidence for both dog and owner
-
Easier recall and greater responsiveness
-
Calmer behaviour and improved ability to settle
-
Reduced frustration, confusion and overwhelm
-
Better understanding of your dog’s individual needs
-
More consistent behaviour in everyday situations
-
A happier and more cooperative relationship
The aim is not perfection or control. It is to help you become the calm, patient and dependable person your dog can trust.
What to expect:
Your dog-training journey begins with a friendly consultation, giving Emma the opportunity to meet you and your dog, understand the challenges you are experiencing and learn more about your dog’s personality, history and everyday routine.
Rather than focusing only on stopping unwanted behaviour, the session explores what your dog may be trying to communicate. Behaviours such as pulling on the lead, barking, anxiety, over excitement or difficulty settling are approached with patience, understanding and clear guidance.
During your session, Emma will observe how you and your dog interact and introduce practical techniques suited to your dog’s individual needs. You will be shown how to communicate more clearly, respond consistently and encourage positive behaviour without fear, force or punishment.
